This update resolves a shutdown issue and is discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Article 307274. In Windows XP, if you click Restart in the Shut Down dialog box, Windows XP can stop responding. 1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Select Windows XP Hotfix (SP1) [See Q307274 for more information], and then click Change/Remove.
